Winthrop Primary School's Learning Outcomes

Winthrop Primary School has a curriculum program consisting of all the key learning areas. The staff use the School Development Plan as the core document from which learning priorities are subsequently developed. This document is reviewed on a yearly basis to ensure that expected targets are met and to monitor ongoing priorities.


 Priorities in 2009

1.
English: Application of school Scope and Sequence in English to support identified needs.

2. Mathematics: Further consolidation of the Principles of First Steps Mathematics K-5. Commencement of Upper Primary Program.
Focus area is Measurement, based on information collected in 2008.

3. Science: Full implementation of Primary Connections. Key focus is Energy and Change with additional training, resourcing and special events linked to this theme.

 

The school is supported by specialist staff in the Library, Learning Technology, Music, Physical Education, LOTE (Japanese) and ESL. Many other staff members offer their services to support curriculum development in specific learning areas. There are a number of extra-curricula activities available to Winthrop Primary students, both in and out of school hours.
