We are very proud of the music programme at Winthrop Primary School, in which we aim to maximise the children's appreciation of, and ability to perform and create in this art form.

In the early years singing, playing and movement are an integral part of daily classroom activities and throughout the school music is frequently incorporated into assemblies and other presentations.

From Year 1 onwards, our music specialist teacher, Mrs Elizabeth Campbell with the assistance of Miss Cheryl Matthews, takes each class for a session of music per week. This is a developmental programme which builds on the children's knowledge, skills and understandings. Visiting musicians and excursions to concerts enhance the programme. Pre-Primary, Year 2,4 and 6 attend an orchestral concert while Years 1,3,5 and 7 participate in the Musica Viva Programme.
