Our School Partnership Principles

Parents and school staff have equally important roles in enabling a positive and supportive environment to ensure all children achieve their best educational and developmental outcomes.

Parents and school staff can support this by working together and agreeing to:

  • Work in partnership to support the learning needs of each child and the needs of all children in our school community.
  • Demonstrate mutual respect for the role of teacher and parent in meeting the needs of each child.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to communication and building and maintaining a sense of community.
  • Interact courteously and appropriately
  • Be open to alternative points of view and acknowledge and value positive contributions.
  • Approach problems calmly with the aim of finding a positive solution.
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrate positive support and advocacy for our school.

Welcome to Winthrop Primary School

"Learn and Grow Together" is our school motto. Staff embed it and inspire student growth in the academic, physical, artistic and social domains. Our school has a strong focus on providing students with the knowledge, skills and values to create citizens for the future.

New Enrolments at Winthrop Primary School

Families living within Winthrop Primary School's catchment area can enrol at our school. If there are places available in year levels, the Principal will consider accepting enrolments outside of the local catchment area - see boundary map.

Proof of address will be required on enrolment (2 different forms of proof are required eg. Utilities [not water], Drivers Licence, Rental Agreement [no less than 12 months agreement]).

Applications for Enrolment in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary are accepted from June each year. Enrolment packs can be collected from the front office. To find out the school year of your child or to check your child is old enough to start Kindergarten, visit the Department of Education’s School Age Calculator.

Pre-Primary is compulsory and every child of Pre-Primary age is required to attend school. All children are guaranteed a place in their local school. If your child is currently enrolled in Kindergarten at Winthrop Primary School and you continue to live within the school boundary, you are still required to complete a Student Enrolment Form which will be given to each child in Term 2.

Children who are currently enrolled in Kindergarten at Winthrop Primary School but do not live in the school boundary, will need to complete an Out of Area Application of Enrolment for Pre-Primary. For further information about Public School Enrolments please visit the Department of Education’s website.

Parent consent will be required for the Third Party Online Services Account Permission. This will be sent to you via email to be completed after enrolment has been accepted.
